Know when your video is ready to share
When you upload or import a video, it goes through a processing pipeline before it is ready to play or embed. The status indicator on each video tells you where it is in that pipeline.
A video enters the Processing state as soon as its upload completes. During this stage, host.video transcodes the video to HLS adaptive bitrate, generates a poster image, and runs any intelligence tasks (transcription, chapters, tags) you have enabled.
The video list and the video detail page both show a spinner while a video is processing. The detail page also displays "Processing..." in place of the embed code section. Both pages poll automatically every 10 seconds, so the status will update without you needing to refresh.
You cannot share or embed a video while it is processing.
A video is Ready once all pipeline stages are complete. The spinner is replaced by a thumbnail, and the embed code, HLS URLs, and analytics all become available.
Ready is the only status that appears in search results.
When you delete a video, it enters a Deleted state and is removed from your video library. Deleted videos can be restored within 24 hours. After that window, the video is permanently purged and the status is no longer visible.
See the Delete and Restore Videos guide for details on how to recover a deleted video.
